Written Confession: The Eyeball Painting is Watching

Around 2 weeks ago my girlfriend was heading to my place to visit; and she picked up a painting that was left on the side of the road.

I live in a duplex with a few other people and just moved in this year; so my room is still pretty bare and she thought the painting could spice it up a little. I didn’t think anything of it and hung it up overlooking my bed.

The first few nights were fine; but then I started getting a really uneasy feeling from it when going to bed. It was a picture of this giant eye; and it felt like it was staring at me as I fell asleep; and I’d occasionally spring up in my bed to look around. I also noticed that I had been generally feeling more lethargic and depressed in the days following hanging the painting up.

Three nights ago is when it got really bad. I went to bed and had this insane nightmare that some demonic woman was in my room and draining the life out of me. I couldn’t move at all and was just completely paralyzed. My girlfriend actually woke me up and was saying I started like moaning and shaking in my sleep; and she was worried I was having a stroke.

That was at 5 am; and for the rest of the night I was struck by this feeling of absolute fear and couldn’t go back to sleep.

That morning after she left I took the painting down and left it back out on the sidewalk outside my building. I went to work and by the time I got home it was gone. Ever since then my sleep and overall vibe has been totally fine; and I actually feel way happier and more full of energy. I’m hoping the painting just got picked up during garbage collection and someone else didn’t get screwed with it; but either way I’m just glad it’s out of my house.
