Written Confession: Young Son Scared By Mom's Creepy Doppelgänger

This wasn't so much me, as it was my 8yr old son.... I lived in a 5 bedroom home with my five children. The way the lay out was, was that my sons bedroom faced the kitchen which lead out to the garage. If you walked into the home through the garage, you were clearly seen by anyone who was in the bedroom, living room or kitchen. There was a few things in this home, but nothing that was extremely alarming to me. Here and there, I would see things dart in the corner of my eye, hear things walking in the middle of the night.. the stereotypical things you'd have in a "haunted" house. To put a little pertaining perspective on the home, the kitchen was open into the living room. The ceilings were extremely high and there were cupboards above the counter. The type where you would have to stand on your tip toes on top of the counter in order to reach the top. At least...that was the case for me anyways because I'm 5'2". There was one night where my son decided he wanted to read a book on top of his bunkbed and when he does this, he keeps his door open. I had come in from being in the garage, my son took one look at me and started crying hysterically. Which is unlike him in many ways. I went into his room and did my best to comfort him while trying to put together what words he could form in between his sobs. When he finally calmed down, he told me exactly what he saw. No less than 30 seconds before I had walked into the house from the garage, he had seen me come into the kitchen from the garage, climb on top of the counter, grab a bowl from the cupboard, turn around, get down, set the bowl on the counter, stare at him and then proceed to walk into my room, which is just left of his, while not breaking eye contact with him until I turned. And shortly after is when he saw me once again walk into the kitchen from the garage and began to cry.
He's now almost 12 years old and has never forgotten what he had seen. He brings it up every now and then and we talk about the possibility of a doppelgänger but I can't say that I still know exactly what he saw that night...
