READ: ‘The Quest’ is Returning to Loch Ness for Third Massive Nessie Hunt
Loch Ness is about to get busy again—and no, it’s not a Highland cow swim meet. The Quest is back, and it's bigger, better, and possibly blurrier than ever. From May 22 to 25, 2025, monster hunters, cryptid chasers, and casual curiosity seekers will descend on the legendary loch, hoping to glimpse the queen of elusive creatures: Nessie herself.
But here’s the big question: what kind of bait does one use for the Loch Ness Monster? Giant haggis? A bagpipe-playing scuba diver? Asking for a friend.

This year marks the third round of The Quest, and the team isn’t just relying on binoculars and hopeful hearts. They're upgrading to some serious tech. High-tech Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs), including the sleek new Chasing M2 model that can dive 100 meters deep, equipped with lights and high resolution cameras will be deployed to discover evidence of the legendary monster’s existence.
The team will also be dropping baited camera traps into the water. Yes, actual underwater snack stations with cameras attached. What exactly is the bait? Fish guts? Scottish shortbread? A deep-fried Mars bar? Because if anything can lure a blurry cryptid out of hiding, it’s good snacks. Maybe Nessie’s just been waiting for someone to show up with the right catering. Here’s how it works: these locally-made traps include a metal frame with a bait box, a GoPro, and lights that automatically turn on when something moves nearby. So if a curious eel or prehistoric sea creature swims by, we might finally get the money shot.
Nessie fever is real, folks. In 2023 and 2024, people came from all over the world to join The Quest. And now, with more gadgets, more experts, and more mystery than ever, 2025 might just be the year someone yells “There she is!” and not be pointing at a suspicious log or a boat wake.
So we have to ask—are YOU joining the hunt? Do you think Nessie really exists, or are you just here for the free snacks? Visit lochness.com/join-the-quest to get in on the action!
